A setback and a discovery

“Work to lay the foundations for Balthazar Lemon’s bridge to the mainland hit a setback. ”
Here is the most recent piece for the Hopeless Vendetta. The Vendetta is a blog and and an adjunct to Hopeless . Both concern the events taking place on the island of Hopeless,Maine.  Hopeless, New England Gothic, and Personal Demons  (the first chapters of the story being serialized online currently) are a co creation between myself and Brynneth Colvin. (We create  together  under the name Copper Age)

This piece came together for me when I saw that the scene had to be at dusk. I then knew that work area would have to be deserted, and that there would have to be many lamps left behind, still lit. The setting is nearly a central character in this whole story-line. Therefore, I pay a lot of attention to mood, atmosphere and settings. It’s a smallish island but there is still a great deal to explore.

This is mostly pencil, with some digital toning.
